Monte Jones
Monte Jones is a musician who lives in the Commercial Drive area of Vancouver. He plays harmonica with several local bands. These photos were taken in January 2013 at the Libra Room on Commercial Drive, where Monte performed with Jesse Waldman.

The bears on the rugged west coast of Vancouver Island are getting a lot smarter and learning some new tricks. Wildsafe B.C. says they’ve outsmarted the regional waste management system. Fight like a girl
The East Van Pillow Fight Club is Canada’s only operating pillow fight club. The club is based out of Vancouver, B.C. and was founded in May 2012. With events several times a year, pillow fighting is taking over the Downtown Eastside.
Capturing and tracking migratory songbirds
A group of volunteers has been spending a lot of time at Iona Regional Park in Richmond these days. They’re there to capture migratory songbirds and track them for research. But as CBC’s Maryse Zeidler found out — their work is up in the air over a major redevelopment. View video on YouTube
‘Cat crisis’ erupts in Surrey, where strays number in the thousands
Animal welfare groups say the population of stray and feral cats in at least one Metro Vancouver city has ballooned out of control. The Vancouver Orphan Kitten Rescue Association estimates that there are 20,000 stray cats in Surrey alone. View video on cbc.ca
